Wear Purple

Wear Purple on February 7
Posted on 01/30/2020
Wear purpleDIFD is inspired by hope for a future where young people will reach out for help without fear or shame. Created by friends and family of Daron Richardson, who sadly lost her life to suicide at the young age of 14, this initiative originated at The Royal Ottawa Hospital to raise awareness and inspire conversations. DIFD supports programs and initiatives aimed at transforming youth mental health.

Power to the Purple is about coming together to support a cause that affects 20% of young people. With suicide being the second leading cause of death in youth, not acting is simply not an option. We can all make a difference and each small action has a ripple effect. Be a ripple in the sea of purple. There’s power in unity. There’s power in purple.

Should you have the means and can spare a loonie or toonie in support "Wear Purple Day" on February 7, 2020, please feel free to stop by the main office and drop off your donation. Funds raised through DIFD support mental health education, suicide prevention research, and mental wellness apps. Learn more here.
