SHSM

Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Program
Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs help students explore a career path that matches their skills, interests and talents while earning a Specialist Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

Adult High School offers the Hospitality and Culinary Arts (SHSM) Program.

It’s an exciting opportunity for students to work and learn in a commercial kitchen setting with a Red Seal Chef.

Students will gain valuable practical knowledge and experience preparing meals for the cafeteria, catering events, experiencing industry-related field trips and hosting guest speakers with experience in this growing sector. This SHSM program includes a sector-specific co-op placement.

Included in the program are industry-recognized certifications such as Safe Food Handling, Smart Serve, First Aid/CPR, WHMIS and more.

This program offers a strong foundation for students moving onto the workforce, college, university, or apprenticeship pathways.
